Green Clean Maine,
Portland - Joe Walsh
Green Clean Maine is a new residential cleaning business dedicated to cleaning
Maine homes in a low-impact, environmentally friendly way. Green clean will
offer standard residential cleaning services in a way that will improve indoor
air quality and create a fresh, clean environment naturally and without the
use of toxic chemicals. The business hopes to capitalize on recent trends in
sustainable, healthy and environmental business practices. Green Clean used
the LFF grant for incorporation costs and initial capital expenditures.
MarginLeft, LLC, Orono - James Daniels
and Sky Mayhew
James Daniels and Sky Mayhew, both computer science students at the University
of Maine, formed MarginLeft, LLC to develop and test a digital media library
for UMaine faculty and students. This product will allow for efficient streaming
of media content through the internet in a way that will greatly improve the
ability of professors and students to access that content. MarginLeft used
an LFF grant to form an LLC and obtain servers with which to begin their product
test phase. MarginLeft leveraged these funds to obtain a Maine Technology Institute
Seed Grant.
New England Fire Protection Information,
Turner - Cassandra Lilliane
Cassandra Lilliane formed New England Fire Protection Information to provide
subscription-based information statistics to insurance companies in Maine.
This information will bring efficiencies and cost savings to underwriters,
particularly those in the residential fire insurance market. LFF awarded a
grant to Cassandra to begin initial work on feasibility of the business and
statistical research.
Round Point Movies, Lewiston - Ryan
Conrad and Craig Saddlemire
Ryan Conrad and Craig Saddlemire, both graduates of Bates College, formed Round
Point Movies to provide video production and editing services to nonprofit
organizations in Maine. The company grew to serve as a community-based production
group working with numerous organizations, nonprofits, individuals and businesses.
LFF awarded a grant to Round Point Movies to upgrade their video-editing software
and increase their output potential.
Sky Pencil, LLC, Orono - Rory Eckardt
Sky Pencil, LLC is a venture focused on offering risk management products and/or
services to the forestry industries. The main focus of the venture is to
reduce the risk/impact of increased fuel costs, however, other risks, such
as weather, interest rates, pulp prices, etc. could also be addressed in
the future. Rory Eckardt holds a B.A. in Forest operations and an MBA from
the University of Maine. With a previous LFF grant, he successfully started
and grew R.E. Consulting which provides consulting services to the forestry
industry.
Trusted Concierge, Portland - Jennell
Carter
Jennell Carter formed Trusted Concierge to provide high-end, comprehensive
concierge service to clientele in Maine’s tourism centers. This clientele includes
vacationers, seasonal residents, homeowners, residential communities and corporations,
none of whom want to spend valuable time on planning logistics. LFF awarded
Trusted Concierge a grant to initiate a marketing campaign and obtain startup
equipment and supplies.
