Libra Future Fund has expanded the applicant age range to 18-29. We hope that this change will make LFF financing available to more young Mainers across the state.

Applicants seeking a Libra Future Fund Grant must be between the ages of 18 and 29 and reside in Maine at least 8 months per year. Applicants originally from Maine, but who are attending school out of state, are also eligible to apply. Grants typically range from $3,000–$5,000.

Libra Future Fund has three application rounds per year. The deadlines are: April 1stJuly 1st, and November 1st.

To apply for funding through the LFF, applicants must complete the LFF's standard two-page application form and the following supplemental materials:

  1. A project timeline

  2. An annotated budget describing how Libra Future Fund money will be used

  3. A brief but concise narrative providing background information, describing the project's purpose or purposes and outlining the proposed course of action

  4. A current resume

  5. Two written letters of recommendation

All application materials should be submitted prior to the appropriate deadline. Please mail applications to:

After meeting to discuss submitted project proposals, the Board of the LFF contacts selected applicants to arrange interviews.  In these interviews, the Board tries to gain a clearer idea of what the applicant hopes to achieve and how the applicant intends to approach the project.  Final funding decisions will be made based upon these meetings.
